William Eggleston

This exhibition of medium and large format photographs by American photographer William Eggleston, which showcases his works were shot in the 1970s and many of them have never been exhibited before and it is also the artist’s first solo exhibition in the Greater China region.

In the course of nearly sixty years, Eggleston has established his own unique image style. He combines themes with local characteristics with his innate understanding of color, form and composition. His vivid and saturated pictures transform ordinary daily life into distinctive poetic images without falling into a solidified interpretation. As a pioneer in color photography, he helped elevate the status of the photographic medium, making it a widely recognized art form today. In 1976, he held a solo exhibition of great watershed significance at the Museum of Modern Art in New York. The exhibition was curated by John Szarkowski, which foretells that the medium of photography will be included in the classics of art history in the future.
