Michelangelo Pistoletto is a major exhibition of works by the renowned Italian artist Michelangelo Pistoletto, which has multiple devices to guide the viewer through one of them from the post-war period to the present, the most influential and long-lasting artistic practice has been revealed. Over the past sixty years, these themes have resonated with the themes that make the artist’s work alive: perception, time, history, tradition, and the relationship between art, artist and audience.
The exhibition will be welcomed by paired inspired installations during the Venice Biennale, Pistorieto was included in the “One and One Makes Three” in the 2017 retrospective at the Basilica di San Giorgio Maggiore. The grouping uses mirrors signed by the artist, including Pistoletto’s historic Viceversa, and the most recent “Colour and Light (2016-17)”. Together, these works create a dynamic, constantly changing environment and dramatize the contrast between the fixedness of the past and the ever-changing nature of the present.
