Gordon Parkes: Part Two

Part Two is the second of two exhibitions organized by the American photographer Gordon Parkes and the Gordon Parkes Foundation. These exhibitions are Parks’ first solo exhibitions in London in 25 years. The first part focuses on the projects of South Park (1956) and Black Muslims (1963). The second part will focus on Parks’ intimate and detailed description of the legendary athlete and human rights advocate Muhammad Ali. Gordon Parks won an unprecedented championship title, and twice photographed and described Ali for Life magazine. On September 9, 1966, the first photo entitled “Redemption Champion” was published. Parks met Ali during his training in Miami and then flew to London to record his preparations for the battle with Henry Cooper.
