Extended Figure: The Art and Inspiration of Lalan showcases more than 30 masterpieces and archival materials of the Chinese-French artist Xie Jing-lan interdisciplinary attempts, the expanded picture the artist’s art and inspiration traces her moments of change, as well as experimentation and introspection through the practice of body-centered artistic creation. Celebrating her significance as a pioneer of interdisciplinary art and her influence on the integration of Eastern and Western aesthetics.
In order to reflect Xie Jing-lan’s ingenuity of cross-border art, this exhibition cooperated with local choreographer Allen Lam, and collected music, dance and augmented reality multimedia production retrospective performances to pay tribute to the artist. The artist explores various possibilities in cross-border art forms in his creative process, while staying true to herself. Her strong desire to break through boundaries broadens the imagination of the audience and makes us think deeply about new experiences in the field of art.
