We the People (detail) is the project by the Vietnamese artist Danh Vo, which forged more than 260 copper pieces. If it was assembled, that can be restored a one-to-one replica as large as the Statue of Liberty in New York.
In his contemporary interpretation of the gods lies in never laying the copper pieces into a complete statue on public display. The parts that the audience sees are the right shoulder and armpit of the Statue of Liberty. By turning the classic Western symbols that symbolize freedom in the eyes of the world into copper pieces scattered around the world, the artist invites us to rethink the changing world order.
