Carol Bove – Ten Hours

“Ten Hours” is a new sculptures exhibition by the American artist Carol Bove which is her first in Asia. In this exhibition, Bove expands upon her ongoing series of “Collage Sculptures”, compositions of various types of steels, begun in 2016. The most iconic feature of this series is the extruded and fiddled square steel pipes, paint in vibrant colour, then combined with the picked steel scrap metal, and usually a highly polished steel disc. The artist’s new work flexibly uses the surface texture of the media, challenging the physical limits of steel. The new artworks continue exploration of form and process, including folding and extruding steel into more complex shapes, giving the material a flexible texture that is almost cloth or clay.
